The Sweetest Taboo
 |
Yuri and Drae are
cousins that promised to never keep secrets from each other.
But they soon learn that not all secrets are meant to be
disclosed. Yuri is in a hopeless and stagnant marriage to
Jeff that is starting to run its course. Yuri's passport to
happiness begins when she goes on a Caribbean trip with her
friend and rising reggae star Britt. They soon begin a hot
and steamy affair that has Yuri in a state of paradise. Yuri
now has to decide if she should try to save her marriage or
if she should continue to revel in the exciting affair with
Britt. But will Britt give her the love that she's
desperately seeking or will he just be a sexual release?
Drae has her own problems in her secret life as well. She's
a high school guidance counselor by day, but she auditions
male and female porn actors and actresses for her porn king
husband Hassan's personal enjoyment at night. Drae does this
to keep her husband satisfied but it's now becoming too much
for her to deal with and she wants out. Hassan will do
anything to keep Drae from leaving him. Adding to the
confusion is a porn actor named Nasty Nas who Drae keeps
having chance meetings with outside the bedroom. It also
doesn't help that Drae can't seem to get him out of her
system either. Yuri and Drae are in for a rude awakening
when all of their dark secrets are revealed. Will they
survive the fallout?
The Sweetest Taboo is an explosively erotic novel by
Risqué. Risqué eloquently brought a seductively tantalizing
tale with a lot of drama, intrigue and even humor. This book
will grab you from the very first page and will more than
keep your attention to the very end. The character
development in this novel is simply wonderful. Yuri and Drae
are excellent main characters but the secondary characters
are just as good. Readers will find Nae-Nae's antics so
uproariously funny that he needs his own book, and women
will surely swoon and fantasize about Nasty Nas and Britt.
No erotica novel would be complete without a generous
portion of wild sex scenes and Risqué effortlessly delivered
this to the reader. The sex scenes are so realistic that you
better have either a lover near by or a cold shower to jump
into. The Sweetest Taboo is a sexy, spicy page-turner
that is a definite guilty pleasure. Risqué has successfully
made her mark in the erotica genre. Hopefully, this is just
the start of more erotic works by this best-selling author.

Gotta Keep
On Tryin’ is an outstanding novel by Virginia
DeBerry and Donna Grant. DeBerry and Grant effortlessly
takes readers back into the lives of the beloved
characters of Gayle and Pat. What made this novel stand
out is the way this story is told. Instead of continuing
the story right where Tryin’ To Sleep in the Bed You
Made left off, this story picks up ten years later.
This was the best technique to tell this story because
it shows the natural progression of the characters.
Readers who read the previous novel ten years ago will
feel like they grew up right along with Gayle and Pat.
DeBerry and Grant did a wonderful job of incorporating
some timely issues such as eating disorders and domestic
abuse into this story. Gotta Keep On Tryin’ is a
perfect sequel to Tryin’ to Sleep in the Bed You Made
and will definitely satisfy all of DeBerry and Grant’s
legion of fans.

Back in the early 70's, Charlotte
Reed was the love of every young man’s life at Greenlow
Academy. Twenty-five years later, Charlotte’s daughter
Grae Reed is attending the same academy thanks to her
guardian. Charlotte dies when Grae is fourteen with no one
to care for her. Gus Walter steps in, becomes her
guardian, and sends her to the same academy that he and
Charlotte attended. Arriving at Greenlow, Grae bumps into
the most attractive man she’s ever seen, falling in love
instantly. Grae goes through her entire four years at the
academy following him around. Also known as the Pig Faced
Zombie, Grae will never in a million years believe Ezeikel
Chambers would ever love her.
Greenlow’s 10-year class reunion is here, and Grae’s best
friend and roommate Liz begs Grae to attend. Grae is
beautiful now; she’s shed the weight, lost the glasses and
pimples, and is nothing less than stunning. Going up the
wrong elevator leads Grae to a private suite that is not
the party she had any intentions on attending. Standing in
the suite of the love of her life, Grae is speechless.
Ezekiel has no idea who Grae is, and he's dying to find
out who the woman with the gray eyes is that's had his
heart skipping beats after only ten minutes of his time.
Ezeikel Chambers (a.k.a. Zeke) is the hottest bachelor on
the market today. Known for being mean and cutthroat,
every one has the wrong impression of Zeke because he
takes no prisoners in his business or personal life.
When these two come together by a chance meeting, Grae
won't reveal her identity and Ezekiel can’t get her out of
his head. Going against his father’s wishes, he falls for
a woman he knows his father won't approve of him marrying.
However, it’s too late to change his feelings and
everything from the past must come forward in order for
Grae to finally have the love of her life and for Zeke and
his father to come to an understanding.
Sylvia Hubbard came with a different twist to a love
story. It wasn’t that the story was not predictable; it
was told well and made you want to know what happened
between Grae and Zeke. You also saw how her mother’s life
played a major roll throughout the story. I found
Secrets Lies and Family Ties to be a quick and
enjoyable read.

It has been three
long years since we've been in the company of Indera Fleet,
Chyna Littles, Britton Landers and Damascus Miles. Friends
who all share Shattered Souls. However, the friends
have grown over the years. While life has dealt them all
difficult hands, they have survived...haven't they? While
they have overcame much of the strife, the pain from their
childhood is still very much apart of them. In search of
happiness, will the friends be able to let go of the
baggage?
Indera Fleet and Damascus Miles are husby and wifey. Yo, you
can't even begin to imagine how wild their lives must be.
Wait for it; although Miss Indy said 'I Do!' she hasn't
really committed her heart for fear that she'd be hurt. On
top of that, she's also masking the pain of the loss of her
mother and a scary family secret that she's unable to share
with her husband. Tee is demanding all of Indy, but she's
unable to willingly give so freely and as usual the drama is
thick and may wreck their happiness. Now sister girl is
fierce, but is she foolish enough to allow her pride to step
in the way of love?
Tee has put pen to paper, and is now a best-selling author.
So now his fans that used to visit him at the clubs are
standing in line in the bookstores trying to see if he's all
committed and whatnot. While he loves Indy with everything,
he feels as if she's continuing to hold on to too much minus
him. He understands that he has to compromise, but can he
mask the pain from learning that his endearing wife Indy,
who is used to being silent and handling things on her own,
is keeping secrets from him? Will Tee stand by and continue
to be shut out, or will he cut out?
Back in the USA, Britton is living in LA with his baby mama,
Lina, who has career aspirations that don't seem to include
being a mother. While Britton agreed to be Mr. Mom, he did
in someway expect that Lina would at the very least try to
be apart of their son's lives. When Britton finds out that
Lina is truly willing to do any and everything to make it on
the big screen, it's enough to send Britton and the twins
packing! Britton has been carrying that bruised heart around
and it doesn't seem to be getting any better when a blast
from his past whisks in with hopes of making amends. Is
there someone made exactly for Britton?
Chyna has been traveling and rekindling her relationship
with Ryan. Things for them have been going well despite
their disagreeing on how best to treat their youngest,
Sarina, a schizophrenic who causes a lot of havoc whenever
she's off her meds. Chyna still feels guilty that she hid
her family secrets. Will Chyna continue to allow Sarina's
paranoia to dictate her own life?
From My Soul To Yours picks directly up where its
predecessor Shattered Souls left off. While I truly
enjoyed catching up with the characters and would definitely
recommend this, I kind of feel slighted in a few situations.
While I wont ruin the read for others, I will contact Dywane
on my own to see what's up. If you've read Shattered
Souls then you already know that drama is on overflow as
readers are dealt a barrage of trials, love, trust,
forgiveness, hope, secrets and fears. Trust, you won't be
able to contain yourself as you're crying one minute and
laughing aloud the very next.
You better work, ok!!!

Sex In The Sanctuary
|
In Sex in the
Sanctuary, there are two influential Christian families
and both are in charge of mega churches. In Los Angeles,
there is Kingdom Citizen's Christian Center, and in Kansas
City, there is Mount Zion Progressive Baptist. Both pastors
are good friends, as are their wives. There are a lot of
similarities in the way they handle their churches; however,
that's where the similarities end.
Both Vivian Montgomery and Tai Brooks serve their
congregation with style and class. Vivian has a great life,
a great relationship with God, a lovely home, and a stable
family. Let's not forget the mind-blowing sex with her
husband. But Tai's private life is less than stellar.
Needing someone to talk to, she turns to the Lord, Vivian,
and her mother-in-law. Vivian tells her to put her trust in
the Lord and everything will work out. But....her
mother-in-law gives her advise a little bit different than
her God-fearing friend.
Lutishia Lovely has done a good job with this novel. The
characters are funny and try so hard to be righteous. At
some points in the book, the storyline is sincere, but it
also has some LOL (laugh out loud) moments. The book shows
you how some women are so desperate to find a "good
Christian man"...no matter what it takes. Sex in the
Sanctuary also tells the tale of forgiveness and true
friendship.

Love Like Hallelujah is the
continuing saga from Sex in the Sanctuary. In Love
Like Hallelujah, Tai and her husband are trying to move
past his infidelities and work on making their marriage
last...until an ex-lover comes back into the picture. And
when she comes back, all hell breaks loose, especially when
she brings back her teenage son...but who's the daddy? Will
their marriage handle this next obstacle, or will this be
the final straw? Remember how Vivian had the ideal life,
perfect husband, kids, etc? Well Vivian must now deal with
her husband's ex. She tells Vivian that if it wasn't for her
coming into the picture, she would be the first lady. Now
the ex is coming back to claim the life that she felt
should've been hers.
Love Like Hallelujah is a very good sequel to Sex
in the Sanctuary. It picks up where the first book
ended. In this book, love is really put to the test and not
just in one house. I enjoyed the way Lutishia Lovely kept
the plot going. It didn't drift to something that was not in
the first book. I would not suggest starting with this book,
but start with Sex in the Sanctuary, because the way
the author details each character, you may be a little
confused by just reading Love Like Hallelujah. I
enjoyed the story and the way it flowed. Nothing dragged on,
and you could feel the pain and anger each family
encountered.

Rementa Renee
Broughton is an around-the-way girl with high aspirations of
becoming a renowned video vixen. She isn't above or beyond
any trick, by omission or commission to 'use what she has to
get what she wants.' Shanelle Anderson is her lifelong best
friend and strips as her career of choice. A ghetto-fabulous
version of Thelma and Louise, these two are taking life by
storm, whether it be in the bedroom, on a pole, or
committing robberies. You name it, they're pulling all kinds
of capers.
Although these ladies always have brilliant ideas and even
grander schemes, they never seem to tally up the higher
price that will have to be paid. Remmi has fought tooth and
nail to make it to Hollywood in all her glory. Remmi and
Shanelle are true-blue, ride-or-die chicks for each other
and are always there to wipe the grit and grime off each
other from their devious antics.
A Girl's Gotta Eat is a quick and easy read. The plot
is commonly used, but I love the way Michelle Valentine
spiced it up with enough drama to keep you entertained and
added a few life lessons. Despite the characters being
sheisty and always attempting some sort of scam, I actually
enjoyed both of their roles. I found myself rooting for
their triumph in spite of their trade. I commend the author
on a super read that entails sexy bedroom scenes, treachery,
lies, thievery, depression, and sickness. In the midst of
the dark side of this portrait, she expertly integrates the
genuine love of two friends that are sisters in the name of
love and not by blood. I look forward to future work from
this up and coming author! Great job Ms. Valentine!

Kissed by the Devil is a riveting debut novel by
Dashawn Taylor. Taylor pulls no punches as he starts with

TL Gardner
Protector
|
Protector
is an amazingly exciting tale by TL Gardner about a young
man named Elijah Garland, who just can't seem to catch a
break. Elijah's life seems to be filled with tragedy and one
heartbreak after another. The only escape he has is a world
that he has created, in his dreams, where he's the hero who
slays the demon he named Reality. Just when Elijah has a
real shot at happiness, tragedy strikes yet again. Only this
time, Elijah can't bare the latest blow that life has dealt
him and he seeks peace; in death. However, he doesn't stay
at peace for long, because an Archangel brings him back to
fulfill a destiny that he didn't know that he had. Once
Elijah awakens from death, right away, he notices that he's
very different. Physically, his strength has increased and
his hair is...white. He also discovers that he is accused of
a murder that he did not commit.
Now, Elijah must learn what his destiny is and prove that he
didn't murder the love of his life. It certainly won't be
easy because not only is the FBI on his trail, but he'll
encounter all sorts of demons along the way.
What makes Protector stand out is that TL Gardner
puts a refreshing new twist on the heaven vs. hell saga. The
story was a very good read and it had everything; love,
action, mystery, suspense and just the right amount of
humor. When TL Gardner wrote a fight scene, he described it
with such detail that you thought you were witnessing it!
Believe me when I say that the cover doesn't do this book
justice (would've love to see Elijah with the white hair),
because it is a very good read! The only reason I gave this
book four stars instead of five is because I felt that more
background story on the heaven vs. hell war should've been
included and I wanted to see more of Gabriel. I loved that
character! However, I hope that more background to the war
and other loose ends will be tied up in the sequel to this
book, Sacrifice. I can tell that The Demon Hunter
Series is going to be a good one and I look forward to
reading future books by this author.

From being
sexually assaulted at the age of seven to having a ton
of meaningless sex by the age of fourteen, Drayton
Clarke’s life is anything but typical. Drayton is a
child prodigy who is the poster child for academic
success. But his achievements in school mean
absolutely nothing in the hood where he has to fight

rids the world of unsavory characters...including
pedophiles. But will this new life bring the

Drayton Clarke, Tools of the Trade is a riveting

storyline with an extraordinary main character. Some
of Drayton's conversations may seem unbelievable to
readers at first glance, but you need to remember that
he is a child prodigy. His intellect is not that of a
normal child, and you can clearly see this in several
examples throughout this novel. You will see the
gradual transformation in Drayton as he goes from
being an uncertain little boy to a strong self-assured

Little Mac changes his name to Solo and only his top two

one side of North Philly and gets the ball rolling.
Little Mac’s best friend D goes against the rule and starts
a war with Roc that has so much blood being shed on the
streets of North Philly, it isn’t even funny. Trying to find
out who Solo is, Roc goes to Little Mac and tells him to
quit his job and stay out the hood for a while until this
thing blows over. Not knowing that Solo and Little Mac are
one in the same, Roc doesn’t realize he is protecting the
