When Dolores Reese met Floyd Watson, she knew that he was the one
for her. Dolores promised that she would stick by Floyd's side no
matter what. Because of a bad decision, Floyd is sent to prison for
life. Dolores visits Floyd and keeps her promise to do his time with
him forever. But when Dolores meets and marries Paul, she thinks
that she can still continue visiting Floyd without revealing that
she is now a married woman. Dolores enlists the help of her best
friend Valerie to help with this deception. Dolores soon finds out
that playing this dangerous game can have devastating consequences.
She Had It Coming is an entertaining novel by Mary Monroe. Monroe
once again brings an intriguing novel with an "out of the ordinary"
plot. From the very first page, you will see that Dolores is not the
only flawed character in this book. Some of the actions of the
characters in this story are so unbelievable and outrageous that you
will be laughing out loud. Monroe also did a good job of showing the
consequences of living this kind of life. Although living a double
life is dubious, you may find yourself rooting for Dolores to get
out of this situation unscathed. She Had It Coming is full of all
the drama and humor that Mary Monroe is known for.

Her Lover's Legacy

Activist Malcolm Braddock wants to have nothing to do with what his
recently deceased father stood for. Malcolm is the black sheep of
the Braddock clan. When he learns that his father's executive
assistant wants him to succeed his father, he is dead set against
it. He is nothing like his father. Or is he? Gloria Kinsley,
executive assistant to former Senator Braddock, has decided that
Malcolm would be the best person to succeed his father as senator.
She just has to figure out how she is going to convince him that he
is the best man for the job. Gloria is going to have to use all of her
feminine wilds along with her intelligence to persuade Malcolm to do
what she knows he was destined to do.
Her Lover's Legacy was a good beginning to the Braddock series. It
does a good job of introducing all of the characters and giving
background information on their lives. It also sets up the plot
behind what really happened to Senator Braddock. There are just
enough unanswered questions to make you want to read the next book
in the series to find out what will happen next. Her Lover's Legacy
was a good introductory book.

I think Carson, Sonny and anyone else they can think to hire to
take down Nathan Jones aka Nan needs to try a little harder.
In the second installment of Moses Miller's wonderfully told stories
he picks up right where the first one stopped. With all the things
going on Nan is hurt confused and not sure who to go after first.
Trying to avoid police at all cost to avenge the deaths of so many
people he loves, Nan gets help from a woman in the very place he
vowed to never go: a church. Running from some of Sonny's men, Nan
runs into Eternal Salvation and into the arms of Sister Sarah. With
her own story to tell, Sister Sarah notices something in his eyes and
decides right then and there that she would put her life on the line to save this
young man. Explaining to Nan that God is not all bad has Nan
vulnerable when he can't afford to be, especially with all the people out there
still out to kill him. Moving about the city with survival and
murder on his mind, Nan uses everything Master Thaddeus taught him...and
it came to good use. Nan can't get through his mind that this is the life that our wonderful God had in store
for him. He agrees to pray for forgiveness for all the sins he has
committed and those committed against him; however, he is
still having a hard time believing this wonderful God Sister Sarah is
speaking of...the same God whom his mother before her death would kneel on the
floor beside him praying at night would allow all these things to
happen to him.
I think Mr. Miller did a wonderful job with Nan: The Game of
Trife. He makes the reader root for
Nan regardless of the murders he committed. The passion in Moses
Miller's writing has you on the edge of your seat, wishing you could help save
Nan from harm and allow him to live a normal life. Nan: The Game of

Matthew and Gloriana McCrae have what seems to be a perfect
marriage. Their marriage was full of faith, honesty, and commitment.
Beneath the surface, some problems were starting to brew. Gloriana
is a
successful gospel artist, and Matthew is a high powered attorney. They
had the ideal marriage. They were financially stable, and both were
well known in their community. Gloriana was extremely excited about
how well her music career was going. She was constantly on tour and
loving every minute of it...too bad Matthew wasn't. Matthew wanted
his wife home with him and starting a family. Also waiting around
for Gloriana and Matthew's marriage to crumble was her singing
partner Cooper Saint James and the lovely Ms. Aston Montgomery. The
more Gloriana stayed on tour made Matthew more vulnerable because of
his loneliness and missing his wife. Aston soon picked up on this
and set her sights on tagging attorney McCrae. Cooper was spending
more and more time with Gloriana and felt that
she would soon forget about Matthew and be with him. All he had to do was
wait. Will Matthew and Gloriana's marriage sustain the temptations
of the flesh, or will they finally give in to something that comes so
naturally?
Gayle Jackson Sloan gave vivid details about situations where people are married and
they don't share the same agenda. I enjoyed how she made the main
characters' lives interact with one another and how a marriage can
become very vulnerable. The beginning of the book dragged a little,
but the story started to picked up. The plot seemed a little too predictable,
and you kind of figured out what Cooper and Aston were up to in the
beginning of the book. I was hoping that this book would have some
twists in it to throw you off, but it didn't. I did like the moral
of the story, but I was just hoping for a little bit more from Let The Necessary Occur.

When a Man Loves a Woman is one of the most romantic love

with character chemistry. The way the author pulls all of the
members of the Baptiste and Bennett family together along with

Street Legends
 |
"I ain't never ran...never will" is the motto of all the
men in Street Legends. This includes Kenneth
“Supreme” McGriff, Wayne “Silk” Perry, Anthony Jones, Aaron
Jones, Peter “Pistol Pete” Rollack and George “Boy George”
Rivera. But honestly, I am not sure how I feel about the
stories told by people that were actually there when a lot
of the things were taking place. The stories are told
vividly and you are kind of in awe. But
at the same time, ypu wonder where's our conscience in that we can glorify
someone being murdered and think that the person who committed
the murder should be commended. I do believe that if we are
both committing the same crime, hell no you better not tell
on me and I won't tell on you. That's with anything in life.
If I did it too, then when I'm caught, I will take my punishment. I understand the whole snitch thing,
but calling them great
stand up men who killed a bunch of
people over drugs is not so commendable to me. I don't know
I am confused. I mean, all of the men were different yet all
the same. I guess if I was a bit younger, maybe I
would be like "Wow, they were the sh*t!." Maybe it's my age and
knowing that's not what life really is. It's crazy to me to read
these stories and see how people really looked up to these
men.
I think Mr. Ferranti did a wonderful job in depicting their
lives and telling them in a way no one has or probably ever
will. As conflicted as my feelings are towards the men and
the crimes they committed, it was an interesting read. I won't
say enjoyable because I had to keep stopping because the crimes were
like "Wow!" The people describing them never once said
anything bad about any of the men, no matter how bad the
crime was. Please don't take my review the wrong way as
being judgemental. I've lived the life as well. I'm
certainly not proud of
it. I'm just saying that the older you are and as you have children, the game
doesn't seem so exciting anymore. And murder in any form
should never be commended.

Ms. Press-Simmons makes her mark with a storyline centered
around three friends that are all plagued with various issues
but have one true connection. Their love for one another
outweighs all other circumstances.
Tabitha Williams is the eldest of the three but low self esteem
ties her to her daughter's father, who's verbally and physically
abusive. Lisa Perkins, a high school senior who left home to
escape molestation at the hands of a family member, seems to be
the strongest of the three. Then there's the baby,
14-year-old Shanice Thomas, who is wild,
promiscuous, and foolishly unafraid of the world.
Strawberry Mansion is a tale of struggle that narrates that pain
has no discrimination in whom and when it strikes. It was
a good storyline, had a good flow, and would have been a much
better read if not for the very poor editing job. Julia Press-Simmons has
the potential to be a force to be reckoned with. I hope with future projects

Chante's Song
|
Chante Chambers is a sinfully, scintillating, sensational sexy
siren singing her song in hopes of snaring her perfect man.
In her quest, she meets several and takes different
characteristics to embody 'him. She's constantly sparring
with Jason McGee for his love, but he can't seem to stop his
wandering eyes or his third leg. Confident in her
position with Jason and his company, she issues punishment by
way of charging expensive trinkets as well as designer clothes
