Reviews: Start by telling our readers about
Trouble Loves Company.
Angie Daniels:
Renee is a successful author but deeply unsatisfied with her
husband. Danielle Brooks has always had a
thing for young thugs—until her latest, Ron, pushes her too
far with his baby mama drama and freeloading ways.
And Kayla is finally realizing she's in a dead-end
relationship with a married preacher. These three friends
don't always agree, but their bond of friendship is put to
the test when one of them is accused of murder.

Reviews: What made you decide to write this sequel to
In the Company of My Sistahs?
Angie Daniels:
I hadn’t intended to write
a sequel, but once I finished the first book something in my
mind kept saying “it ain’t over.” These women still have a
story to tell. So I wrote a second and a third book as well.

Reviews: Can you briefly explain your literary journey
to our readers?
Angie Daniels:
I knew what I wanted
and studied my favorite authors worked until I had grasped
the formula for a good book. It then took me six
months to write my own. I was very fortunate. At
the time there were only two houses that were publishing
African American romance. I queried both and received
a letter requesting the entire manuscript. Genesis
Press signed me three months later and it’s been nonstop
since. Conferences, workshops and networking. Networking and
research is the key.

Reviews: Can you give us a sneak peak at some of your
upcoming novels?
Angie Daniels:
I’m currently working on
book three of the trilogy. In the Company of My Sistahs
was the first book, Trouble Loves Company the second,
and Careful of the Company You Keep will be coming
out next year. In this book, the women will again have
to deal with issues that African-American women face every
day. At the same time, I want them to finally grow as
individuals.

Reviews: What have you learned about the book industry
since the release of your debut novel in 2001?
Angie Daniels:
When I sold my first book I
was ready to quit my job and buy a Mercedes, because I knew
I had made it big. Ha-ha! Since then I’ve learned it ain’t
that easy. Success requires a lot of hard work and
determination. The market is heavily saturated now with
African American authors, talented authors, and to compete
you have to find your own niche, especially if you want to
be around for the ride.

Reviews: What advice would you give to aspiring
authors?
Angie Daniels:
Don’t quit. If you
truly believe in what you are writing and want it bad enough
to do everything it takes to get there, it will eventually
happen. It might take weeks, months or even years but
in the meantime keep on writing. When you’re not
writing, Read, Read, Read. Read books on the craft of
writing. Study the works of the authors you enjoy
most. You have to read to know what’s out there.
Even now I read at least a book a month. It keeps my
thoughts fresh and when I have writer’s block it helps get
the juices flowing again.

Reviews: What do you want people to know most about
you?
Angie Daniels:
My personality shines in
this trilogy. Each book will give you bits and pieces of who
I am, which is an in-yo-face sistah with a kind heart and a
wonderful since of humor. I personally read and respond to
all my emails so please don’t hesitate to visit my website
