Urban-Reviews.com: What is The Velvet Rope all about?
Brenda Thomas: When Tiffany Johnson decides to launch Teaz
Entertainment and open a nightclub, she's setting out to be the queen of
Philly nightlife, and investors are lining up at the door. However, when a
family secret is exposed her life spirals downward, leaving Tiffany so raw
and vulnerable that she doesn't realize that her new lovers, the DA and
his son, are involved in more than kinky sex, and that they might take her
new club down with them...unless she takes them down first.
UR: What research did you have to do for The Velvet Rope?
BT: I delved into the nightlife by visiting nightclubs, talking to
owners and those people who are known club goers.
UR: Sasha, a character from Threesome and Fourplay,
appears for a moment in The Velvet Rope. Will we be seeing more
of Sasha in the future?
BT: Funny thing, Sasha came to me the other day and said she's
getting bored with the married life so I think she may be looking for some
action.
UR: What made you decide to leave the corporate world and become
an AA Fiction writer?
BT: Always, always wanted to be a writer since I was a little girl
and actually thought I'd be writing non fiction but that's still to come.
UR: Threesome, Fourplay, and Velvet Rope all feature a little bit
of erotica. Would you ever consider doing a full erotica novel in the
future?
BT: Doubt it but you never know - maybe under a different name.
UR: Have any highly acclaimed authors given you any advice in
regards to your novels or the literary industry?
BT: I'm always looking for advice and knowledge on the industry and
the craft so they know when they see me coming that I'm open to
suggestions.
UR: Can you give us a little preview of your next novel?
BT: Every Woman's Got A Secret coming May 2006
UR: Will there be a sequel for The Velvet Rope?
BT: I think so because Mr. Haney (the ex-D.A.) is looking for some
revenge.
UR: What is your technique when writing a novel? (i.e. mood music,
certain time of day, weekends, incense burning, etc.)
BT: I'm all over the place when I'm creating but nothing special -
I just need life to happening around me to ignite my creative juices and
as for the sex scenes, well....
UR: Do any of your fans or family try to get you to write about
topics that they have come up with?
BT: All the time and some of them I do use - everyone has a
fascinating story.
UR: Is there
anything else you would like to add about yourself or your current novel?BT: I'd like to say thank you to everyone whose supported me - it is appreciated more than you'll ever know and oh yes please do visit my website at www.phillywriter.com.
