with B. Swangin Webster

B. Swangin Webster

B. Swangin Webster was born in the Washington, D.C. area. She, along with her twin sister, were adopted by loving parents. While she attended high school in Maryland, she got bit by the writing bug. She worked on her current novel, Let Me Just Say This, for only three days before it was complete. She is currently working on the sequel to Let Me Just Say This, entitled First of All.

B. Swangin Webster enjoys working with children and currently works and lives in Charles County Maryland.

Urban Reviews:  Tell our readers about Let Me Just Say This.
B. Swangin Webster:
Let me just say this...and sorry for using the title, but I always say that phrase, hence the name of the book....Let me just say this, the book, is about Cheryl and Kevin; whom you think is the perfect couple, but when they are within the confines of their home, it's anything but perfection.

Urban Reviews:  Where did you come up with the concept for this story?
B. Swangin Webster:
The story literally just fell out of me during a short story writing assignment for high school and 10 years after graduating I finished the story, because it felt like I had left it undone. Then it took another 10 years for me to actually share it with someone, who then didn't agree with it so it took another year for me to share it with a co-worker who encouraged me to go forward with it.

Urban Reviews:  Do you see yourself becoming a long-term writer and if so, would you expand to other genres of writing?
B. Swangin Webster:
Yes, writing is a passion that I have always had. I would love to go into other genres and within this book, there will be a....oh, can't tell you that, I would be giving away the secret. (LOL)

Urban Reviews:  Were there any naysayers when they found out that you were putting out a book?
B. Swangin Webster:
Yes, and I'll leave it at that.

Urban Reviews:  What has been your biggest challenge as a new author?
B. Swangin Webster:
The biggest challenge has been to be happy that I am a published author and to accept that I do have a special "voice" that deserves to be read.

Urban Reviews:  If there was one thing you could do differently, what would it be?
B. Swangin Webster:
I wouldn't listen to the naysayer. I would trust my gut instinct that I am a good writer and that I can do something that brings me joy.

Urban Reviews:  Are you working on anything for the future?
B. Swangin Webster:
Yes, there is actually a sequel to Let Me Just Say This and there will also be a third book in the series.

Urban Reviews:  Do you have any favorite authors or books?
B. Swangin Webster:
YES! I am a fan of Francis Ray, Connie Briscoe, Eric J. Dickey and Zane. I am a fanatic for E. Lynn Harris...whenever his books come out, I leave work for an hour and stand in front of Borders until they open, so I can be one of the first to get it. I read it on the same day...from cover to cover.

Urban Reviews:  What should every aspiring author know or learn about before jumping into the literary arena?
B. Swangin Webster:
I would say that everyone should know that this is what they want to do and that before jumping into the literary arena, know what it will take to promote your book. Go in with your eyes wide open.

Urban Reviews:  Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself or your novel?
B. Swangin Webster:
My pen name is B. Swangin Webster and Swangin is not what you think. Swangin is actually my mom's family name and Webster is my dad's family name. B, well I will leave that open, and about my novel. It is strictly fiction, however, we all might know a Cheryl and/or a Kevin in our life.
