Urban Reviews: Tell our readers about In Those Jeans?
Chantel Jolie: In Those Jeans is about a young lady who
moves from Detroit to Atlanta and becomes a stripper. She hooks up
with what one would call a “baller” and once they are in too deep
they learn each has some devastating secrets.
Urban Reviews: Where did the idea for this novel come from?
Chantel Jolie: As a hairstylist I hear a lot of stories, juicy ones too. So I
began mixing stories and turned them into my first novel. I guess
that’s why folks think the story is real, because it is.
Urban Reviews: What are your aspirations as a writer? Do you hope to one day be
signed to a mainstream publisher?
Chantel Jolie: I feel that Life Changing Books is a mainstream publisher
Hopefully one day my books will help teach people about life. My
goal is to put out a book a year for the next 10 years and allowing
the readers to know I am here to stay. I’m not the type to just drop
a book for the sake of money . I would like for readers to get a
message from my work.
Urban Reviews: What are some of the biggest things that you've learned about the
literary industry?
Chantel Jolie: I have learned that there is a lot of business you have to handle
even when you are published by someone else. Just like the music
business its about who you know and timing. It’s also not as easy at
it seems.
Urban Reviews: What's the best advice an author or someone in the literary
industry has given you?
Chantel Jolie: Study the business, pay attention and think of ways to sell your
book even when you are asleep.
Urban Reviews: Do you have any favorite authors or books that you enjoy reading?
Chantel Jolie: I enjoy Zane and my fellow label mates Tonya Ridley &
'The King Of
Erotica' J. Tremble.
Urban Reviews: Are you working on any upcoming projects?
Chantel Jolie: Yes, a sequel to In Those Jeans. No title yet for the new one but
it will be released in 2009.
Urban Reviews: What do you like to do outside of writing?
Chantel Jolie:
I love fast cars, motorcycles and slow men!
Urban Reviews: What else would you like to share with us about yourself or your
debut novel?
Chantel Jolie: I would like to for your subscribers to hit me up on
MySpace at
http://www.myspace.com/chanteljolie and let me know what they think about
my babe In Those Jeans.
