Urban Reviews:  How did the concept for this book come out?
Jerome Staten:  The concept for Burning Bridges is basically a summary of what people are experiencing globally to this very day, (infidelity, domestic violence, having to deal with the consequences of bad decisions made, etc.). My goal with this novel was to combine all of these circumstances into one story, so everyone could relate to at least one of the characters within the story.

Urban Reviews:  What was it that pushed you to want to become a writer?
Jerome Staten:  Ever since Middle School, I believed in my unique talent of being able to come up with different concepts for my stories, make the characters come alive, resulting in my readers trying to distinguish fact from fiction. So, I guess my desire of being able to reach out to people through words, pushes me day by day to want to become an even better writer.

Urban Reviews:  What has been the biggest challenge... writing the novel, publishing the novel, or promoting the novel?
Jerome Staten:  Wow, I'd definitely have to say that promoting my novel has been my biggest challenge. Writing the novel was a piece of cake and publishing it wasn't much of a hassle either. I think I can speak for a lot of new, up-and-coming authors when I say that promoting a novel, as a new author, is an extremely daunting task. Most readers are followers of the authors that are well-known and who have made a name for themselves already. My advice to any new author, including myself, is to just have faith in Christ and never give up on your goals.

Urban Reviews:  What are your ultimate goals as far as the literary industry?
Jerome Staten:  At the top of my list, when it comes to my ultimate goals in the literary industry would most likely be, being able to bring fresh ideas and compelling concepts to the table, that will make a difference in people lives. Although my genre of writing is based on erotica type of material, I plan to send a message through every novel I release.

Urban Reviews:  What author or book would you point to as being your main inspiration?
Jerome Staten:  I love Rick Warren's best-selling novel, The Purpose Driven Life. This novel has single-handedly opened my eyes to amazingly new elements of life that I would've never known about. It's inspirational from the beginning to the end and gives clear, descriptive passages describing how to identify with our purpose in life.

Urban Reviews:  Do you have any upcoming projects that we can look forward to?
Jerome Staten:  Yes. I most certainly do! I'm currently working on my 3rd novel entitled, Daddy's Sex Chronicles - Volume 2 (Special Edition). I plan to release it with all major bookstores and on Amazon.com by the spring season of 2010. Urban Reviews:  Do you have any favorite authors or books?
Jerome Staten:  Honestly speaking, if it's not inspirational type of books, such as the genre that Rick Warren writes about, or other authors similar to him, I usually don't read it. I like to keep my ideas fresh and original and I feel as though reading other authors material that's in the same genre of writing as me, will effect my method of being original. Could be just a mind thing though. (lol)

Urban Reviews:  What things do you like to do outside of writing?
Jerome Staten:  Let's see. I like shooting pool, bowling, going to movies, dining out, going to amusement parks when it's warm outside. I'm a huge wrestling fan, so whenever live events come to my city, I usually take my sons along with me to the events. I like watching basketball and football games as well. I have a wide variety of hobbies outside of writing.
