Urban Reviews: Tell us
about And Even If I Did.
Kisha Green: And Even If I Did tells a story of
three friends who each are on their own road to self discovery while on
this journey they realize that the people that they thought would be
there and have their backs don't. But on a more personal level it was a
therapeutic experience for myself since I had recently loss my mom so
And Even If I Did allowed me to address some of my own issues I had.
Urban Reviews: And Even If I Did featured
characters who where members of The Five Percenters. Why did you decide
to incorporate this into the novel?
Kisha Green: Well growing up during my teen years The
Five Percenters was like the latest fad in my neighborhood. I even found
myself intrigued wanting to belong to this certain "clique" of
individuals, So I felt it was only right to mention it since the book is
based upon some true life experiences.
Urban Reviews: What made you want to
self-publish your book?
Kisha Green: I just wanted to be in control of my novel
without anyone telling me to change ANYTHING! I just had a story I
wanted to tell.
Urban Reviews: What have you learned about
the book industry so far?
Kisha Green: That it is really hard out there stepping
out there into the literary world since no one knows who Kisha Green is,
so you have to network and educate yourself on the industry as well as
be cautious of the people you allow to "help" you.
Urban Reviews: Any upcoming projects?
Kisha Green: Yes, I am working on two novels called
DotComDiva and The Decisions We Make.
Urban Reviews: You also run your own website
as well as write for other websites. Can you tell us about these online
ventures?
Kisha Green: Yes, I have two monthly columns...one for my
online ministry I belong to called Women on the Road of Deliverance
and a new up-and-coming website for women called Mahogany Butterfly -
This & That Tidbits as well as various other sites. I simply enjoy
writing and try to do it each and every opportunity that I can.
Urban Reviews: Is there anything about the
book industry that you know now that you wish you knew before?
Kisha Green: Everyone doesn't have your best interest at
heart.
Urban Reviews: Who are some of your favorite
authors or books?
Kisha Green: My favorites are J. California Cooper, E.
Lynn Harris, VC Andrews, Jackie Collins, Stephen King, Terry McMillan,
Ntozake Shange to name a few...I am an avid reader and there are so many
talented authors out there.
Urban Reviews: Is it difficult balancing
your writing career and everyday life?
Kisha Green: LOL...well yes...I mean for all the mothers
out there they already know we are already multi-taskers but for me it
can be difficult but then at times it really just flows. I work full
time and am a married mother of three and expecting another within the
next three weeks so at times I am indeed running through the house like
a mad woman, but once I regain my sanity I write...That is my
therapy...That and my Bible!
Urban Reviews: What do you want people to
know most about you?
Kisha Green: I am a wife/mother/sister/aunt/friend and a
author and a firm believer of "If God brings me to it...He will bring me
through it!"
