Urban Reviews:  Tell our readers about A Deadly Encounter.
K.R. Bankston:
A Deadly Encounter is about the everyday pursuit of love and happiness, with a decidedly unconventional twist in the approach. Its the story of man meets woman, their personal demons, and the struggles endured to find their niche with each other.

Urban Reviews:  How did you come up with the idea for this book?
K.R. Bankston:
The idea for A Deadly Encounter is actually a culmination of people I've known or met, situations I've seen or been a part of during my life's journey and of course a very active imagination.

Urban Reviews:  When did you know you wanted to be a writer?
K.R. Bankston:
I've always written since I was young. Mostly as a form of self therapy in an abusive home. I finally decided to pursue the commercial arena at the urging of my husband.

Urban Reviews:  Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently in regards to your debut novel?
K.R. Bankston:
Honestly, I can't say that I would. A Deadly Encounter was a joy to write and even with the bumps in the road to publish it, the experience was overall a good one.

Urban Reviews:  What are your ultimate goals as a writer?
K.R. Bankston:
Ultimately I would love to be able to write full time. I'd love to visit various cities and speak at literary events, book clubs, hold workshops for other debut authors.

Urban Reviews:  What's the best literary advice you've gotten from another author so far?
K.R. Bankston:
The best advice I've gotten was from the late E. Lynn Harris. He encouraged me to follow my heart and stay true to myself, which I took to heart and continue to follow to this day. E. Lynn was a great person and his advice was worth its weight in gold to me.

Urban Reviews:  Do you have any upcoming projects that we can look forward to?
K.R. Bankston:
Yes. My second book, Sins of the Father, is to be released late Fall 2009.

Urban Reviews:  Do you have any favorite authors or books?
K.R. Bankston:
E. Lynn Harris and V.C. Andrews are my absolute favorite authors. I have too many books to name as favorites, so I simply say I love to read anything that's entertaining.

Urban Reviews:  What do you like to do outside of writing? (Hobbies, skills, etc)
K.R. Bankston:
When I'm not writing, or thinking of something to write, I love movies. I love football, Go Cowboys/Falcons, and I love basketball, Go Magic/Heat.

Urban Reviews:  Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself or your novel?
K.R. Bankston:
I'd love for my readers to know I'm just me. I genuinely enjoy hearing from my readers and knowing what they think of my work. I love what I do and I hope that I'm reaching an audience that shares my passion and will continue to support me for years to come. As for the book, once you meet Dezi Gianni, you'll understand the hype. (smile)
