Urban Reviews:  Tell us about your latest novel The Love Child's Revenge.
Nicole Bailey-Williams:  My latest novel features the love child of a house keeper & her married employer (Claudia "Peach" Harrison) who is cheated out of her inheritance and tries to exact revenge on her father’s wealthy family.

Urban Reviews:  Where did the idea for this story come from?
Nicole Bailey-Williams:  Philadelphia has always had interesting media personalities, a bit on the controversial side. That was a springboard for the story. And I’ve always been intrigued by the class structure in Philadelphia so that comes into play in the story as well.

Urban Reviews:  What do you feel is the biggest challenge that you've faced throughout your literary career?
Nicole Bailey-Williams:  Initially, it was getting over the stigma of being self-published. Now it’s finding the time to actually get the writing done!

Urban Reviews:  What has been your biggest lesson learned regarding the promotion of your novels?
Nicole Bailey-Williams:  That it’s important to learn how to toot my own horn. A writer has to be his/her own best promoter.

Urban Reviews:  You have written stories for a few anthologies as well. Do you enjoy writing stories for anthologies as much as your full length novels?
Nicole Bailey-Williams:  They’re very different things and I like them for different reasons. I enjoy writing novels because I can really explore a character in-depth. I like being part of a collection of writing because it’s nice to be part of a collaborative effort. It’s like being a flower in a bouquet.

Urban Reviews:  How do you prepare for each story that you write?
Nicole Bailey-Williams:  I go into the character’s mind and really try to live as that person as much as I can. It can be a tough thing to do while still maintaining connection to the real world.

Urban Reviews:  What things do you hope to still accomplish in the book business? Is there another genre that you'd like to explore or expand on?
Nicole Bailey-Williams:  I’d like to write a memoir and also historical fiction & a children’s book. And maybe someday even a mystery! I enjoy reading those a lot.

Urban Reviews:  Do you have any favorite authors or books?
Nicole Bailey-Williams:  Toni Morrison is my absolute favorite. I’m looking forward to reading her newest book.

Urban Reviews:  What do you like to do outside of writing? (hobbies, skills, mentoring, etc)
Nicole Bailey-Williams:  I love to cook and dance & sing. And of course I adore spending time with my children and taking long walks with my husband.

Urban Reviews:  Any final thoughts you'd like to leave regarding yourself or your new novel?
Nicole Bailey-Williams:  I can’t wait to see reader’s responses to the different path that "Peach Harrison" has put me on this fall.
