Urban Reviews: Tell us about Confessions of
a Sex Therapist.
Nyah Storm:
Confessions of a Sex Therapist tells the
story of a successful sex therapist who happens to be addicted to sex. The
main characters name is Nikki Thompson, and Nikki is not your ordinary
therapist. Nikki uses her client’s erotic yet sometimes painful sexual
secrets for her own personal pleasures. Her life revolves around lustful
images of the next pleasure seeker. That is until she meets her match in
Unique. This is when you find out what really happens when love meets
lust.
Urban Reviews: What prompted you to create
this type of storyline?
Nyah Storm:
The addictions reality shows. I always
wondered what would happen if a therapist was addicted to the very same
thing her clients needed therapy for. I thought that would be much more
interesting, to have the main character of the story willingly torment
themselves by listening to the clients problems. Not only are they
tormenting themselves but they are taking out their vengeance on the
clients as well. The therapist has to hide in the dark what they truly
are, the clients are free to share who they are without harsh
consequences.
Urban Reviews: How long did it take
for you to complete your debut novel?
Nyah Storm:
It took me two weeks to write Confessions of a Sex
Therapist. But to have everything completed, I would say maybe a month and
half for everything to be finalized and perfected.
Urban Reviews: What are your goals
as an author?
Nyah Storm:
My goal as an author is to reach the Essence best
seller list at least once in my lifetime.
Urban Reviews: How did you get into
the business?
Nyah Storm:
I got into the writing world by force actually. My
best friend met a young man who was promoting his book in downtown D.C.,
she asked him some questions and told him that she had a friend who
wanted to be a writer. Well, he gave her his number, which she then gave to
me. I was very skeptical of the situation at first. But then the more we
talked on the phone, the more comfortable I became. He then gave me Jessica Tilles’ number. I called her and I didn’t even have a manuscript done or
started. I wrote one in about a week. Submitted it and then I was signed.
Urban Reviews: Are you working on
any upcoming projects?
Nyah Storm:
Yes, I have a short story coming out in August
called "Vengeance." "Vengeance" is in the erotic anthology Erogenous
Zone which will be out at the end of summer 2007.
Urban Reviews: What do you love most
about your book?
Nyah Storm:
I love the ending of the book the most. The ending
not only shocked me but it shocks everyone who reads it.
Urban Reviews: Name one thing that
the world does not know about Nyah Storm- the person?
Nyah Storm:
One thing that the world doesn’t know about me? Umm,
I love the ocean.
