Urban Reviews: Can you tell us about your novel Shyt List?
Reign: Shyt List is about revenge to the tenth power. Yvonna Harris
believes she’s been wronged by the man she loves, and her dearest
friends. And although she tries to get past the hurt, revenge grabs
a hold of her so she acts on it with fury.
Urban Reviews: Where did you come up with the idea for this storyline?
Reign: I’m an avid movie watcher. And I can’t tell you the movie that
inspired this concept because it’ll ruin the storyline.
Urban Reviews: How difficult was it for you to pen this novel?
Reign: Not very difficult. At all. Which makes it kind of scary if you’ve
read the story.
Urban Reviews: Describe the day you found out that your book was going to be the
launch title for The Cartel Publications.
Reign: I knew from day one I was going to be published with the Cartel.
There’s no other company for me. Not anymore.
Urban Reviews: What are your goals as an author?
Reign: To continue to write novels that are extreme and fast paced for the
reader who likes a story that will hold their attention. My books
will always be graphic, but interesting because it’s what I do best.
Urban Reviews: Who or what inspired you to jump into writing?
Reign: T. Styles. Believe that.
Urban Reviews: Do you have any favorite authors or books?
Reign: I have many favorite authors. Almost too many to name.
Urban Reviews: What's next for Reign? Do you have any ideas or planned projects
for the future?
Reign: Shyt List 2 is scheduled to drop this winter or early ’09. That’s my
only focus at this time. I don’t want to keep readers waiting and
give them an opportunity to forget about the viciousness of my
character.
Urban Reviews: What do you think about the state of the African-American Fiction
market?
Reign: I think it’s great. As of right now, you can’t self-pub in any other
genre, and receive instant success if you have the right recipe…a
hot book. There is a thriving market for our literature and all you
have to do is find the right connections.
Urban Reviews: Was there anything else you'd like to say to readers about
yourself or your books?
Reign: Not really. Just that they should heed the warnings I give them in
my novels. I’m not an author who believes in picture perfect endings
all the time, so I allow the reader a chance to make his/her own. Be
sure about what you want, when given options in my book. It’s up to
you to turn the page.
