Urban Reviews: Can you tell
us what From The Extreme is all about?
Renea Collins:
From a childhood filled with
physical and mental abuse to two failed marriages, attempted
suicide, and countless instances of drug and alcohol excess,
Rachael has led a life of pain and regret. Still carrying the
emotional scars from never knowing her father and being
frequently abandoned by her mother, Rachael is ready to fill
the void in her heart with God’s love. But first she’ll have
to walk the long, hard road of redemption, swearing off bad
habits and avoiding bad influences—including her drug-dealing
ex-husband. Can she overcome the pain of the past and
experience the love and forgiveness that only God can give?
A deeply moving novel of faith and renewal, From the
Extreme follows Rachael on her remarkable spiritual
journey.
Urban Reviews: Where
did you come up with the idea for From The Extreme?
Renea Collins:
The idea came from wanting to show
others with similar pasts the power of God. I wanted people to
see that just because we make many mistakes in our lives we
still can come out of any situation.
Urban Reviews: How
did you go about getting your book deal?
Renea Collins:
My book deal was truly divine. I went to
my best friend’s book club event and met Joylynn Jossel. She
took a look at my manuscript and offered me a two book deal
through Kensington Publishing right there on the spot.
Urban Reviews: Can
you give us a sneak peak at your next book I Repent?
Renea Collins:
I Repent is a Christian fiction
book about a twenty- seven year old female caught up with an
abusive, kingpin boyfriend. Reese ends up falling in love with
her boyfriend, Jason’s best friend and runs off with him to
Vegas to get married. However when she comes back reality hits
her in the face. “I Repent” is a suspense novel full of twists
and turns, nobody will be able to guess this ending until they
reach the very last page.
Urban Reviews: What
are your goals as a writer? Do you see yourself staying within
the Christian genre?
Renea Collins:
To write quality stories whether by
movies, books or plays that will impact the lives of people
and show that the power of Jesus Christ can change any ones
circumstance. I will go outside of the Christian fiction
genre.
Urban Reviews: What
do you like to do outside of writing?
Renea Collins:
Spending time with my family and
friends. Going to the movies, shopping and working in the
ministry.
Urban Reviews: Do you
have any favorite authors or books?
Renea Collins:
No favorite authors, but I do read a
large range of books.
Urban Reviews: Is
there anything about the book industry that took you by
surprise?
Renea Collins:
No not really.
Urban Reviews: What
advice do you want to give to aspiring authors?
Renea Collins:
Write from the heart. Don’t quit.
Urban Reviews: Any
finals thoughts you want to leave with readers about yourself
or your novel?
Renea Collins:
I want to say that if you haven’t went
out and got From The Extreme to go do it. I believe it
will be a blessing. The book is my life. It will show you that
no matter what happens in your life, you can come out of it
with victory.
