Urban Reviews: Tell us about Eva, The
First Lady of Sin.
STORM: Eva is a confused and lonely young woman looking for her father’s missing love in every man she meets. And some women. She found the power of sex at a very young age and has used it since then to fulfill her desires for love and attention. Eva’s sex drive knows no bounds and she is willing to wield her weapon of sexual destruction on anyone who crosses her path. Eva meets a young, wealthy man who gives her mind-numbing orgasms and she thinks she’s hit the jackpot and is in love. Then the love of her life, Brand, brands her with the gift that keeps on giving!! Living with a communicable disease that she can’t get rid of, Eva embarks on a wild, sexual ride that leaves no one unscathed. Who will be the next victim of Eva, The First Lady of Sin? Urban Reviews: What inspired you to write this novel? STORM: I knew I would one day write a novel and I figured it would be in the ‘Urban Genre.’ I wanted to pen a tale of an upwardly mobile, educated home-girl who is caught up in her own sexual drama. I wanted Eva to portray the other side of young, urban, unprotected sex (holla back, Maury). Many books tell tales of young women getting pregnant and trying to get paid off having a ‘ballers’ baby. Not many authors tackle unprotected sex that lead to STD’s. There are a few books, which tackle the HIV/AIDS pandemic but virtually nothing else along those lines. And definitely nothing as scary as Herpes. Initially, I thought about giving Eva HPV but that was quickly voted out by friends and family, like ‘John Kerry’ for president! Urban Reviews: You are currently working on a sequel to the book. When can we expect that to be released? STORM: Spring 08 – I have another novel coming out in 1/08 from Melodrama Publishing. Urban Reviews: How did you get into the business? STORM: Honestly, I woke up one morning and decided to write a book. Initially, I wanted to pen a tale about my own upbringing. After about 20 pages, I decided that no one wanted to read THAT boring story! Don’t get me wrong, I’ve lived a little but nothing that could compare to Eva’s erotic, sexual tales. I started writing an untitled novel when I bought my Dell ‘Wyle E. Coyote’ laptop in October 05 and Eva was brought to life by March 06. Trust me...it was a hard road and even harder when I reached the editing process and had to let my BABY go! Urban Reviews: Did you choose your genre or did your genre choose you? STORM: I chose the genre because I wanted to tell a tale of regular, urban chicks who get caught up in their own madness. Eva grew up poor; so did I. Eva had her everyday outfit from Marshall’s & T J Maxx; so did I. I thought young, urban readers could more relate to Eva missing a father (like myself), mistakenly looking for love through sex and acceptance from boys and men. Urban Reviews: Have you faced any challenges being a new author? STORM: Wow. I could write a book on that alone. #1 Challenge – Ignorance. I had no idea of what I was getting myself into when I signed a contract to publish Eva, First Lady of Sin. I didn’t know about marketing, or publishing, royalties, movie rights…etc. I could go on for days. I didn’t get a publicist until ‘Eva’ was already published, in stores and for sale on Amazon.com. I missed out on valuable time in the months prior to her release that should have been spent promoting the book. But I didn’t know what to do and who to talk to and no one was offering up the information. Not even the people who you think would have the most vested interests in educating a first time author. (I’ll leave that alone.) EDUCATE YOURSELVES LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. The game will eat you alive without knowledge. Urban Reviews: Who are some of your favorite authors or books? STORM: Some of my favorite authors include: John Grisham – The Brethren, Danielle Steele – Toxic Bachelors, L.A. Banks – Take Me There, Sidney Sheldon – If Tomorrow Comes, K’wan – Hood Rat, Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb – The Death Series, Bertrice Small, Sandra Brown, Robert Ludlum – The Bourne Series, Johanna Lindsey, Noire – Thong On Fire…that’s all I can think of for now. Urban Reviews: What do you want people to know most about you? STORM: I want people to know that I’m a regular chick from back Haines Street in Germantown. I’m educated and I speak the Queen’s English, most times. I’m a mother of two boys 16 & 9 and they keep me on my toes and extra busy, even when I don’t feel like being bothered. I work in a maximum-security juvenile detention center. That means I’m like a baby C.O. with no weapons. I love working with the kids but the job itself…gots to go! |
