Urban Reviews: Start by
telling our readers about Searchable Whereabouts.
Tinisha Nicole Johnson: Searchable
Whereabouts is the story of Rahkel Williams who’s trying
to unravel the mysterious death of her beloved uncle. However,
after his death, she begins finding clues into his life that
has her wondering if she really knew this man. She hires a
private investigator to help her with her uncle’s case, who
she soon falls for. But when people of interest in the case
begin showing up dead, Rahkel doesn’t know who to trust. But
at all costs she must find the truth, even if the truth kills
her.
Urban Reviews: What inspired you to create this
story?
Tinisha Nicole Johnson: I love mystery novels,
movies and shows and so I decided to write one of my own. So
just loving mysteries in general is what inspired me.
Urban Reviews: Can we get a sneak peak at your
next novel?
Tinisha Nicole Johnson: I’m trying to figure
that out. I have two new novels, and I'm trying to figure out
which I’d like to release. Most likely it’ll be a suspenseful
one. That’s all I can say, because I don’t even know the title
yet.
Urban Reviews: Searchable Whereabouts is your
first published novel. Can you share with us your literary
journey?
Tinisha Nicole Johnson: It’s been a hard one. I
actually wrote Searchable Whereabouts two years ago and
it took a lot of rejection letters – and I do mean a lot,
before I was finally published. And even after being
published, it didn’t stop there. The author is the main one
responsible for promoting their book, so I’ve been learning a
lot and trying to be more creative with how I promote my book.
Urban Reviews: What are your goals as a writer?
Tinisha Nicole Johnson: My goals as a writer is
to publish a book or two a year and to one day make the New
York Times Best Seller List.
Urban Reviews: Do you have any favorite authors or
books?
Tinisha Nicole Johnson: Yes I do, too many to
mention. But some of my favorite authors are James Peterson,
John Grisham, Zane, & Eric Jerome Dickey.
Urban Reviews: How do you balance your writing
career with your everyday life? (i.e. day job, family life)
Tinisha Nicole Johnson: It’s hard to do, that’s
for sure. I have two kids – a one year old and an eight year
old, a husband and a full-time job and my son’s after soon
projects. I find myself up late at night on many days,
deprived of sleep. I also try to squeeze in some time during
my breaks and lunches on the job. I’m not sure if I’m the
expert on balance, but I find time or make time to fit in my
writing.
Urban Reviews: What have you learned about the
book industry so far being a fairly new author?
Tinisha Nicole Johnson: I’ve learned that you
have to be passionate about what you do, if not, it’s easy to
give up. And passionate, is definitely what I am about my
writing career, so I’m in for the long haul.
Urban Reviews: What do you want people to know
most about you?
Tinisha Nicole Johnson: Well, that I’ve had a
love for writing and reading since the age of eleven. And that
I’m not just an author, but I am also a freelance writer and a
poet. |
