Tiphani On July 4th, 1981, Tiphani Nicole Montgomery was born. Raised in Rochester, New York. Wanting a change of scenery, Tiphani moved to Raleigh, North Carolina at twenty-one and enrolled at Saint Augustine College. Realizing early on that school wasn’t for her, she left college after attending for a couple of months and chose a different route. In 2005, Tiphani jumped out on faith and self published her first book entitled Hate Me Bitch! A collection of poetry, selling over 2500 copies. Following her first release was her sophomore poetry book If I Knew Then… that made its debut in 2006. Content with just writing poetry, it took a stranger to push the possibility of something bigger. It was when Tiphani met Tonya Ridley, author of The Takeover, did she ever consider writing fiction. Tonya put Tiphani’s work in the hands of Life Changing Book publisher and the rest is history! In addition to being an accomplished writer, Tiphani is a motivational speaker focusing her energy on encouraging our younger generation to defy the odds! Tiphani currently resides in Raleigh, North Carolina
with her seven year old daughter Jaedah, where she is working on her
second novel, a screenplay, and a non-profit organization to promote
financial literacy to the youth. |

Urban Reviews: Tell us about The Millionaire
Mistress.
Tiphani: The Millionaire Mistress is a romantic murder mystery between two cousins Oshyn and Chloe. They both make a lot of money, one legally and the other illegally. The rivalry between them is intense. Love is what they both desire. You will have to read the novel to find out what happens when one meets the love of her life and the other is overwhelmed with jealousy. Urban Reviews: Where did you come up with the idea for this novel? Tiphani: I have been thru a lot of trying situations in my life so I decided to share them with others that may have gone through the same things I had. Although I wasn't a Millionaire Mistress, I have faced the same challenges my characters have. Urban Reviews: At the end of Millionaire Mistress, there is room for a possible sequel. Will we see Chloe pop up in another novel? Tiphani: Yes maam! Chloe does have unfinished business and so does Oshyn, so there will be a sequel. I promise it will be more intense than the last one :). Urban Reviews: How did you go about getting your book deal? Tiphani: I was pretty much at the right place at the right time. A friend of mine Tonya Ridley author of The Takeover was published by Life Changing Books and after reading the first 4 chapters of my book she connected me with her publisher and the rest is history. Urban Reviews: What was the hardest part about finishing your book? Tiphani: The hardest part was having to decide who would live or die. I developed a relationship with each character and it was hard to part ways once the project was complete. Urban Reviews: Any upcoming projects in the works? Tiphani: Yes, the sequel to The Millionaire Mistress (which has yet to be titled) and a screenplay for a project I can't disclose just yet. Urban Reviews: As a new author, what have you learned about the book industry so far? Tiphani: I learned that books don't sell themselves and you have to hustle. I look at being an author as a job. I'm a sales person and it is imperative to know how important it is to close the deal in order to be successful. Urban Reviews: What books or authors have most influenced you into becoming an author? Tiphani: I would have to say Eric Jerome Dickey and Azarel. Their style of writing is very intense and heartfelt, and it challenged me to try and be as good. Urban Reviews: What were you doing on the day you found out about your book deal? Tiphani: I was on my couch watching TV and I got a call telling me my manuscript had been accepted and I was ecstatic. Urban Reviews: Anything else you would like to add about yourself or your novel? Tiphani: I had my daughter when I was 18 and everyone said my life was over and would become a statistic. I always knew my ambitions were larger then their put downs. I would like my readers to know that you can become whatever you want to be as long as you pray to God with a thankful heart to change your surroundings and you will wonder why you ever doubted. Also, be on the lookout out for the sequel to The Millionaire Mistress and spread the word! |
