T.L. James
TL
James, born and raised in Houston, Texas, studied English at
the University of Houston and Texas Southern University and
graduated with an MBA from LeTourneau University.
There is where she cultivated an interest in biblical
studies which is woven throughout the trilogy.
As she developed the storyline for this labor of love, she
worked tirelessly with her son constantly tucked around her
waist.
She often found her inspiration in the sound of her son's
small steady breaths while he slept.
After eight months of sleepless nights, The MPire
trilogy was completed.

Urban Reviews: Can you
please let us know what The MPire: In Search Of The Lost is
all about?
T.L. James: In Search of the Lost is an
enchanted journey into the erotic and sensual picture perfect
world of a rich and handsome “Texas Englishman”, Mallory
Towneson Haulm. His world collides with reality when he is
summoned to return to the family that cast him away when he
was seven. The journey takes you family drama, corporate greed
and scandals and epics wars older that Revelations.
Urban Reviews: How did you come up with the
concept for this book?
T.L. James: I wanted to write about a power
black family whose history and roots were deep and enchanting.
Some of the incidents in the book were events that happened in
to me personally or friends and family around me.
Urban Reviews: When can we expect the sequels to
be released for this book series?
T.L. James: The next sequel is due in 2009.
Urban Reviews: Was there anything within the book
industry that surprised you?
T.L. James: Being forced to be in a box. When
the industry finds out that you are black, you are
automatically assumed urban. When they read the book, it is
sci-fi or fantasy. It is just fiction.
Urban Reviews: What are your goals as an author?
T.L. James: Writing is a hobby, a release and
way to teach and learn. My goal is as author is breaking some
of the traditional stereotypes about black (urban) genre.
Urban Reviews: Was there anyone or anything that
inspired you to become a writer?
T.L. James: My inspiration was my son. After the
two-hour feedings and mindless television, I turned off the TV
and wrote something better for entertainment. Looking back
now, I guess I have created a legacy for my son (who will NOT
be able to read the book until he is 21!!!)
Urban Reviews: What authors/books do you enjoy
reading?
T.L. James: My favorite classic authors were F.
Scott Fitzgerald, Ray Bradbury, and Zora Neale Hurton. My
contemporary authors are Walter Mosley and E Lynn Harris.
Urban Reviews: What do you want people to know
about you or your writing?
T.L. James: About me… I have a very vivid
imagination.
